We started these discussions about 7 years ago at hindustan.org and later on hindustan.net and now for past 2 years at indiafamily.net.

Please note that the intention of these discussions is NOT entertainment or chat to 'pass time', but to bring about awareness, information and real experiences to bring more harmony and growth to our society in South Asia. India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are 3 very populous nations and our problems at home are exactly the same from East to West and from North to South. India is home to a major chunk of the world and we are undergoing changes like the rest of the world. India of today is fully exposed, open and accepting as it ever was but this time with a sort of democractic flavor and its large communities begining to express themselves openly; it has tempered a bee's nest and we find that all that appears may not be true always.

India was secular, India had a great family tradition, India had other great cultures but India of today has changed and is changing. All the evils of the rest of the world are pouring in the hidden and rather indira gandhi style protected country but at the same time we are observing the evil IN India.

India like any other country is not free from ignorance, poverty, problems and social disasters.
Despite many comparisons, India continues to be a hope when we see more stability in its large family network. But you will agree that Indian family has come a long way and things are cracking. There you see the fissures, contours and cracks on its social skin while our 'society' begins to discover its own self.

Our responsibility as somewhat privileged or more fortunate people is not to ridicule, malign, laugh like an idiot bystander but to offer our shoulder to take the load of spreading good vibrations, bringing positive aspects to life and also at the same time exposing negative and DISLIKED aspects of life in family.

Indian family will change - no doubt. The whole world is changing and it has to do for all things change in this world. But are we simply and merely going to cry at our problems and or laugh at our weaknesses or are we going to find solutions to bring help to millions of victims of greed, ignorance and intolerance.

India and our neighbourhood in Pakistan [more non vegetarian and innocent india with arabic billboards but Hindi songs in heart], Afghanistan [gun for a dollar will kill for food] and Bangladesh [what to do with so much jute and unemployed mullahs], Sri Lanka [ghar ka bhedi srilanka dhaye and meat eating buddhists], Nepal [lost in the 6th century AD no change expected] today face major challenges and major turns of social and historical change and we need to make decisions. We need to come up with solutions which are practical, realistic and genuinely suited to our temperament and social characeter.

Are we going to follow the residual social garbage of the Western societies, the atrocities and goat sacrifices of Arabs and the decay of American family system where everybody live alone or are we going to set new standards for us, that let us work on our weaknesses and bring about necessary and urgent reforms?

We have a great deal of emotional and mental stress in India and Indian family around the world caused by our age-old traditions, customs and rituals - most of them outdated and only few of them worthy of continuation.

This is our duty to think, find solutions and discuss these matters as friends and make use of education.

Whatever your age, status or education please stop for a minute and think for your sake, for our family sake and for our world at large.

India of today needs serious and detailed talk on fixing our problems, define our roles and bring more justice to women, kids and the exploited and remove the elements that are causing unrest, disruption and breaking families. Indian divorce rate is growing and will grow much more exponentially in coming years given the exposure in media and more education to women.

Atrocious and destructive caste system, Indian arranged marriage and the role of parents and children, dealing with the relatives, the HIDDEN and quiet suffering of millions of victims of dowry, poverty and helplessness, sexual exploitation, incest, forced labor, coercive brutal behaviour of our so called senior male family heads to SOME of our stupid customs - and many other issues related to us, our lives, our daily family living, our marriage, our love, our work and our existence - REQUIRE your attention and your intelligent handling.

I invite you to be serious yet keeping your cool and sense of humour to help, contribute to the lives of others by sharing your experiences and knowledge.

With love and gratitude to all friends and most sincerely yours
Pk Kapila
